Master Paul Petersen My name is Paul Petersen. I am a 5th Degree Black belt. My journey with martial arts began when I was seven years old. I was very small for my age and I was bullied by my peers on a regular basis. My parents decided to enroll me in the Dae Han Tae Kwan Do School. I trained under Master Chung Wung Lee who was a 7th Degree Korean Master at that time. I trained under Master Lee 5 nights a week, 3 hours each night for 3 years and was ready to test for my black belt when my family moved from Long Island, NY to Lancaster, PA. Shortly after our move my parents enrolled me in Bradley’s Karate Studio in Lancaster where I studied Moo Duk Kwan, also a Korean Martial Art. I trained under Master Bradley 2 nights a week for 2 years. My parents and I decided to switch karate schools and that is when I went to Kim’s Karate in York, PA.

At Kim’s Karate is where I met Master Chung Su Kim and Studied Tang Soo Do. I trained under Master Kim 4 nights a week for 8 years. During my training at Kim’s Karate I competed in many tournaments both local and out of state. I was very successful . As a second degree black belt I became an instructor , I was sixteen. At this point I realized all my hard work had paid off but I still trained vigorously at every class to improve myself as a student and as a teacher. I had to stop my martial arts training to begin my family. As soon as my first son was old enough to start training in martial arts I looked into some local schools. I was not impressed with the quality and discipline level of the schools. That is when I got in touch with an old friend of mine, Master Shawn Liskey and in 2001 we opened our own Martial arts school , The Fighting Dragons. Our school is a huge success. We are blessed with many wonderful students including my wife and our four children. Martial Arts is my passion and I am thankful I was given the chance to pass on my skills.
